New Hangar News

Construction work began on the industrial estate's new road in May 2008, marking the beginning of the end for the Trust's existing hangar, situated near the train station. The new road was the cause of the Hangar Appeal for which many local organizations and people contributed time, effort and money to make the new hangar a reality. The required amount of money for the new hangar was reached through generous donations to the Trust and our own fundraising activities.

During the latter half of 2008 the Upward Bound Trust's new hangar was constructed and the old hangar was dismantled. The upheaval of all of the Trust's gliders and equipment took place on 25th September 2008 with a small group of volunteers providing the manpower required to shift everything to the new location.

On Sunday 3rd May 2009 the hangar was officially opened by former UBT pupil Andy Perkins and Chief Flying Instructor Mike Clark. The opening marked the culmination of a lot of hard work and fundraising activities necessary for the new hangar building, which has ensured the continuation of gliding at the Upward Bound Trust. The opening coincided with the Annual Vintage Rally held at Haddenham and was also attended by people from the Haddenham Real Ale Festival and many others.
